Deer Archery: Sept. 7-9 (one buck only); Sept. 28-Feb. 28.
Deer Alternative Firearms (permit hunt): Oct. 19-23.
Deer Modern Gun Special Youth Hunt (permit hunt): Nov. 2-3 (permit) and Jan. 4-5 (no permit).
WMA Bag Limit: Three deer, no more than two legal bucks, which may include:
- Two bucks with archery,
- Three does with archery,
- One buck and one doe with alternative firearms.
- During youth permit hunt, youths may take two deer, one buck (no antler restrictions) and one doe.
Deer Notes:
- Three-point rule.
- No dogs.
- Prescribed fire may be used on this WMA during the fall to meet habitat objectives. AGFC will not be conducting prescribed burns during muzzleloader permit hunt; however, implementation could occur immediately before permit dates.

2024-25 Quail
Dec. 14-15 and Jan. 11-12. Daily limit – 4, possession limit – 8.
Quail Notes:
- A “group” not to exceed 4 hunters, no more than 2 of which can be 16 years of age or older. Dogs allowed. Persons in the group actively taking game count to the group number. Dog handlers not harvesting game will not count toward the group numbers. Bag Limit of 4 per person, possession limit 8. As Stone Prairie WMA has a military history, munitions and explosives of concern may be present. Use caution if encountered, and do not touch. Move away from the area and call 911. Please be aware that prescribed fire may be used to meet habitat objectives. AGFC will not conduct a prescribed burn during the permit hunt, however implementation could occur immediately before the permit hunt.
2025 Turkey
Youth Hunt (permit required): April 12-13. One legal turkey.
Firearms Hunt (permit required): April 21-23 and April 26-28. One legal turkey.
Area Notes
- A free annual General Use Permit (WMP) is required to hunt or trap on WMAs. Permits are available online by clicking “Buy Licenses” at agfc.com or by calling 833-345-0325 or any regional office.
- Limited parking and access will be available during the 2023-24 hunting season.
- Closed to bird dog training.
- Stone Prairie WMA has a military history, Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) may be present. Use caution; recognize these military items can be dangerous; if encountered retreat; do not touch. Move away from the area and call 911.
