Flooding closes Sulphur River access

FOUKE — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s boating access to the Sulphur River at Smith Park in Miller County is temporarily closed due to heavy releases from Wright Patman Lake in Texas. Nearly 2 feet of water has overtopped the county road leading to the ramp, rendering it inaccessible. The AGFC stresses anyone planning a trip to the Sulphur River below Wright Patman be aware of possible  swift water conditions on the river as well as other areas that may be impacted by the temporary flood event.
