Escape to the outdoors this Spring Break

LITTLE ROCK – Trying to come up with some last-minute plans to keep the kids entertained during Spring Break? Arkansas Game and Fish Commission nature and education centers have plenty of programs available to offer outdoors-oriented fun for kids of all ages. Kids can learn to shoot a bow or a bb gun, paddle a canoe or kayak, or make handy nature-themed crafts to take home and enjoy. 

Hollie Sanders, education specialist at Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center, says each center has activities every week, but have bumped up their programming to help parents find fun ways to get the kids out of the house while they’re out of school. 

“We try to make all of our programs entertaining, so they’ll never know that they were busy learning something on their days off,” Sanders said. 

Thanks to the 1/8th-Cent Conservation Sales Tax collected through Amendment 75 to Arkansas’s Constitution, activities and educational opportunities at AGFC nature and education centers are free to enjoy. By fostering the next generation of outdoors enthusiast, the AGFC and its partners keep The Natural State true to its name. Proceeds from the tax also are critical in habitat management, fisheries conservation and establishing new publically accessible lands and waters to enjoy the outdoors.
