2025-26 Deer

Deer Archery: Sept. 27-Feb. 28 (no dogs).
Deer Alternative Firearms: Oct. 18-26 and Dec. 29-31.
Deer Modern Gun: Nov. 8-Dec. 14 (dogs allowed) and Dec. 26-28 (no dogs).
Deer Modern Gun (youth permit hunt): AsĀ set by the Corps of EngineersĀ (no dogs).
Deer Modern Gun Special Youth Hunt: Nov. 1-2 and Jan. 3-4 (no dogs).

WMA Deer Bag Limit: Four deer, no more than two bucks, which may include:

  • Two bucks with archery, alternative firearms or modern gun,
  • Four does with archery, alternative firearms and modern gun combined.
  • During special youth hunt, youths may take four deer, two bucks (no antler restrictions) or up to four does.
  • During youth permit hunt, youths may take four deer, two bucks (no antler restrictions) or up to four does with permit.

2025-26 Squirrel

May 15, 2025-Feb. 28, 2026. Dogs allowed. Daily limit – 12, possession limit – 48.

2024-25 Waterfowl

Waterfowl Notes:

  • A mobility-impaired waterfowl hunt will be held and administered by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel on the Lower DeGray Lake Waterfowl Rest Area. A free permit is required. During this hunt, access on the Lower DeGray Lake Waterfowl Rest Area is limited to mobility-impaired permit holders. The hunt is Jan. 4-5. Call 870-246-5501 for permit details and application.
  • Within the boundaries of the Lower DeGray Lake Waterfowl Rest Area, all killing devices are prohibited except by permitted participants of special hunts
    and archery equipment used for bow fishing.
  • Waterfowl hunting is allowed 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset during the waterfowl season.
  • No hunting within designated recreation areas.

2025 Bear

Bear Archery: Sept. 17-Nov. 30.
Bear Alternative Firearms: Oct. 18-26.
Bear Modern Gun: Nov. 8-30.
Bear Modern Gun Youth Hunt: Nov. 1-2.

Bear Notes:

  • Statewide bag limit.
  • No dogs.

2026 Turkey

Youth Hunt: April 11-12. One legal turkey.
Firearms Hunt: April 13-May 3. One legal turkey.

Area Notes

  • A free annual General Use Permit (WMP) is required to hunt or trap on WMAs. Permits are available online by clicking “Buy Licenses” at agfc.com or by calling 833-345-0325 or any regional office.
  • For Youth Permit Hunt application contact the Corps of Engineers, 870-246-5501.
  • All killing devices prohibited in Lower DeGray Lake WRA except for youth permit hunters; contact the Corps of Engineers, 870-246-5501.
  • Archery equipment legal for bowfishing.
  • During permit hunt, WMA remains open to nonpermitted seasons and public access.
