Spring Break Events By Location:

The Forrest L. Wood Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center on the southern edge of Jonesboro tells the story of a unique ridge atop the Mississippi Delta with indoor and outdoor exhibits, films and trails.

The Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center is one of the nine Arkansas Game and Fish Nature Centers. The 421 Ozark acres that comprise FBCCNC lie in a 2.75 mile bend of Crooked Creek just above Kelley’s access.

The Delta Rivers Nature Center teaches visitors the Delta’s heritage, wildlife and ecology in both indoor and outdoor settings. The center sits between Lake Saracen and Lake Langhofer. Native fish can be seen in our 22,000 gallon aquarium as well as native reptiles and some amazing birds of prey housed at the facility.

The J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center is a 32,000 square foot facility on over 61 acres and is the newest place to learn about the natural world and outdoor recreation in Northwest Arkansas.

The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center is built on 170 acres of land that was part of Fort Chaffee. In addition to the spacious building surrounded by hickory and oak trees, the grounds are home to a series of trails and Wells Lake, a popular fishing destination.

Today, an elk herd of about 600 animals makes its home along the Buffalo National River. To learn more about this animals’ recovery, biology and history, check out the Ponca Nature Center. You and your students will find exhibits and meeting space to assist you as you delve into the world of Arkansas elk as well as the other flora and fauna of the Ozark Mountains.

Potlatch Cook’s Lake Nature Center near Casscoe, is a nature center that operates under a joint agreement between the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. It is located 20 miles southeast of Stuttgart on the Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge.

Rick Evans Grandview Prairie is comprised of 4,885 acres of Blackland Prairie. It was purchased in May of 1997 and was the first major land acquisition using money provided by Amendment 75. It fulfills several commitments made in the Plan for Conservation. These commitments include land acquisition and improvement, protection and restoration of habitat, and conservation education.

The Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center opened December 17, 2008. The 16,232 square foot building on 3.4 acres in Little Rock, overlooks the Arkansas River and is within the Julius Breckling Riverfront Park. The site is a part of the River Market District, and is adjacent to the Museum of Discovery and the Clinton Presidential Library. Visitors to the State House Convention Center may access the grounds by choosing one of several walking routes.
