Special Waterfowl Permit Hunts

WRICE Program Private Land Fields

  • WRICE Program fields are private land that have been leased by the AGFC for increased waterfowl habitat and hunting opportunity, please treat them as though they were your own.
  • Hunting is allowed by drawn permit each weekend of regular duck season and the two-day special youth hunt on Feb. 8-9, 2025.
  • Hunt periods include consecutive Saturday and Sunday (full weekend).
  • Each hunt period must be applied for separately.
  • Hunting parties must not exceed four people.
  • Applications will be accepted online for each hunt period from 3 p.m. Thursday through midnight Sunday of the weekend immediately preceding the hunt. Permits will be drawn and winners notified via email the Monday preceding the hunt.
  • Permit winners may have up to three guests with them for a maximum party size of four hunters.
  • Each field is listed by the county where it is located and the nearest town.
  • Hunters may not access the property except on the days of their hunt, scouting by the roadside with binoculars is recommended.
  • Hunting is allowed from one-half hour before sunrise until sunset each hunt day.

2024-2025 WMA Waterfowl Hunt Application Totals

  • From Nov. 23-Dec. 2, 2024 and Dec. 10-23, 2024 and Dec. 27, 2024-Jan. 31, 2025, Red Cut Slough Tract on Cypress Bayou WMA is open for waterfowl hunting only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season. Anyone entering flooded areas must have a signed Cypress Bayou Waterfowl Hunting Daily Use Permit on their person.
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays,  non-restricted permits are available at the parking area. Hunters are not restricted to designated locations on these days. Hunters must complete the top portion of the permit and deposit it into the collection box on the side of the kiosk. Hunters must sign and keep in their possession the bottom portion of the permit while waterfowl hunting. This portion must be completed and placed in the collection box once the hunt is complete.On Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season, a limited number of permits will be available by online drawing. Permits will be for designated locations. There may be a total of four hunters per party for each location drawn. All members of each hunting party must hunt within immediate proximity of each other.

  • From Nov. 23-Dec.2, 2024 and Dec 10-23, 2024 and Dec. 27, 2024-Jan. 31, 2025, Steve N. Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms WMA is open for waterfowl hunting only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season.
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays, self-serve permits are available at the parking areas at the end of Cypert Road (south of headquarters), east end of Jones Island Road (Cypert Tract) and boat ramps A and B. Hunters are not restricted to designated locations on these days. Anyone entering flooded areas must have a signed Steve N. Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms Waterfowl Hunting Daily Use Permit on their person. The top portion of the permit must be completed and deposited in the collection box before the hunt. The bottom portion must be carried while hunting, completed, and returned to the collection box at the end of the hunt. 
  • On Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season, a limited number of permits will be available through online drawing only. Visit www.agfc.com and click on “GET A LICENSE” to apply. No more than four participants per party are allowed for each permit and all members of the party must hunt together. Hunters must hunt within 150 yards of the designated location on their permit.
  • Online drawing for permits will be suspended on Saturdays and Sundays when the White River at Georgetown reaches 19’ and reinstated when the river falls to 17.5’. The WMA will remain open to hunting during this time.
  • Permits are available through online drawing for the following designated locations on the WMA on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays: Magellan Tract, mobility impaired blind and youth blind. Visit www.agfc.com and click on “GET A LICENSE” to apply. Holders of a permit for the Magellan Tract are authorized to access this tract via ATV/UTV. Mobility Impaired card is not required.
  • Permits are not required during the Youth/Veteran Waterfowl Hunt except for the youth blind permitted unit.
  • Hunting allowed only in designated locations through an online permit lottery.
  • The Conway George Tract is closed to all access from Nov. 21, 2024-Feb. 9, 2025, except for permit holders during permit waterfowl hunts.
  • Visit www.agfc.com and click on “GET A LICENSE” to apply. Youth permit applications only appear if logged in under the youth hunters’ Customer ID.
  • All day hunting on Saturday and Sunday (Youth/Adult Hunt) and half-day hunting on Wednesday (Adult Hunt).
  • No more than four participants per party are allowed in each designated location. During Youth/Adult Hunt there is a minimum of one adult mentor per party not to exceed one adult mentor per youth hunter. During Youth/Adult Hunts all members of the party may hunt.
  • Closed to waterfowl hunting except for permit holders during permit waterfowl hunts.
  • Hunting allowed in designated locations through online permit lottery.

Note: Construction is ongoing and hunters can expect additional waterfowl draw permit hunt fields during the 2025-26 waterfowl hunting season.

  • From Nov. 23-Dec. 2, 2024 and Dec. 10-23, 2024 and Dec. 27, 2024-Jan. 31, 2025, Frog Bayou WMA is open for waterfowl hunting only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season. 
  • Anyone entering flooded areas in the Open Hunting Units must have a free Frog Bayou Open Hunting Unit Permit (FBOHP). Visit agfc.com and click on “Buy License” to purchase. 
  • A limited number of online draw permits will be available. Permits will be for designated locations. There may be a total of four hunters per party for each location drawn. All members of each hunting party must hunt within immediate proximity of each other.
